RW Citrus & Juice: Interim General Manager

內容大綱
In late 2016, the owner of RW Citrus & Juice, a business-to-business fresh juice company in Michigan, asked a management consultant to fill in as the company’s interim general manager. The owner initially brushed aside the management consultant’s early concerns about equipment maintenance, and it soon became apparent that the company lacked a basic structure for operations. In a company lacking operational organization, how could the management consultant make sense of the changes that the company required? How should he separate the “must-haves” in operations management from the “nice-to-haves” and communicate the needed changes to a reluctant owner?
學習目標
This case is intended as an undergraduate- or graduate-level introductory case in operations management and its relationship to general management. Alternatively, the case could be used much later in a course as exam preparation, where students are responsible for presenting a response in their capacity as a consultant. By working through the case and assignment questions, students will have the opportunity to do the following:

Identify the benefits of functional operations management in terms of achieving consistency and efficiency.

Compare different approaches to such operational issues as inventory replenishment and purchasing.

Recognize how operations management fits with general management in a small organization.
