Hill & Levene Schools of Business : 2020s Business Education

內容大綱
The Hill & Levene Schools of Business (HLSB) Paul J. Hill Business School at the University of Regina, were considering widely divergent strategic alternatives, in what was expected to be a new and permanently altered post Covid-19 competitive environment, for business schools and higher education learning. The case considers three alternatives: 1. a return to the classic business model, with a new state-of-the-art building; 2. specialize as a virtual business school, for maximum national and international student access; or 3. Take advantage of the learning during the Covid-19 crisis and excel as an adaptive hybrid business school. Each alternative has strategic, marketing, operational and financial implications.
學習目標
The case is designed for use in senior undergraduate- and graduate-level classes in both strategy and strategic marketing, with interesting tie-ins with finance, operations, and even leadership and change-management courses. The case allows students to consider a business school from a perspective other than an educational one. In fact, the case examines the HLSB from strategic, marketing, and operational perspectives. Prior to engaging with this case, students should be familiar with classic environmental scanning so that they can understand competitive realities at the societal, industry, and organizational levels. By the end of the class discussion, students should be proficient in applying the business model canvas to accomplish the following objectives:

Define the composite value proposition for stakeholders.

Define the key resources and activities that a business school leadership team should be responsible for.

Identify key partners, their available resources, and the operational activities they perform.

Identify the most favourable customer segments and relationship requirements.

Begin to frame the impact of change on costs, revenues, margins, volumes, sunk costs, and investment.
