An employee's health crisis affects the whole team, deepening the complexities of management. The authors suggest six research-based recommendations for responding with sensitivity and professionalism when a team member is diagnosed with a terminal illness: opening a dialogue, adjusting work arrangements, educating and preparing the team, planning for business continuity, supporting the team emotionally, and responding to the death of the employee.
