The assistant plant manager was trying to decide on production scheduling and inventory management policies for the new computer diskette plant. Students are presented with three demand forecasts of increasing complexity as variability between and within product lines emerges. The case is suitable for students to do an economic order quantity (EOQ) analysis and draft a production schedule.
學習目標
To expose students to the economic order quantity trade-off of holding versus set-up costs. Students are expected to calculate economic order quantities for each of the five diskette models to be produced under three demand forecasts. They are also expected to convert those lot sizes into production schedules. It is suitable for the operations section of an introductory business course.<br><br>This case is a revision of the three cases Quantico Computerware Ltd. (A), (B), and (C), numbers 9A88D001, 9A88D002, and 9A88D003, respectively.
