The president and chief executive officer of Prelko, a firm that, among other services, provides personalized printing for large companies, must decide if a new printing software application from Europe is appropriate for use by the company. The company’s printing business has been in decline and the president must determine whether the company should cease offering printing services entirely to its customers, or if there is a profitable way to reinvigorate the printing line of the business.
學習目標
This case was written for an introductory course in financial analysis or managerial accounting. It is recommended as an introductory case for a module on relevant costs/differential analysis, wherein students have an opportunity to apply differential analysis tools to assess two business proposals.<br><br>Students are asked to:<ul><li>Perform a business size-up and industry analysis.</li><li>Assess the company's personalized printing business.</li><li>Determine whether the company should invest in the new software.</li><li>Decide which of the two options presented (i.e. being the Canadian service provider for the new software or being a non-exclusive license distributor) is best for the company.
