Asocomun-Peacebuilders: Negotiating Resources for Social Projects. Confidential instructions for Peacebuilders International
Asocomún and Peacebuilders are two organizations that have made an oral and informal agreement to present a joint proposal to the European Union (henceforth the EU) about coexistence incubators in schools. Peacebuilders has been working on the technical and economic proposal for the last month and despite having had several meetings with Asocomún, they never defined how to distribute the budget between the two organizations. Both organizations worked on the premise that it was very important to carry out the project due to its social scope and therefore the economic issues became secondary, assuming, moreover, that it would be easy to reach an agreement. This, however, was not the case. -

Migros Turkey: Scaling Online Operations (B)
The case opens in February 2020 as Ozgur Tort and Mustafa Bartin, CEO and chief large-format and online retail officer of Migros Ticaret A.S. (Migros), Turkey's oldest and one of its largest supermarket chains, are looking over the results of the fulfillment pilot the company had been running since June 2019. Comparing the data from dark store, micro fulfillment center, and store pick models, the duo see that contrary to the expectations outlined in their business plan in May 2019, the mini dark-store performance metrics were superior to those of the dark store format. As the online grocery market is evolving, the duo decide to refrain from going forward with one fulfillment model only and decide to mix and match the fulfillment models as needed and buttress the efforts with automation for picking to increase efficiency. On the last mile, the teams decide to focus on pooling and developing an algorithm to automate deployment while trying to combine delivery efforts for both Sanal Market and Hemen. Decisions with regards to Hemen's offering are yet to be made as its competitors manage to raise money from Silicon Valley. -

Women@Work: Fang (B)
This series of six short two-part cases ("caselets") is written to highlight workplace dynamics faced by women professionals. Women represent about half of the global workforce but they face distinct workplace issues compared to men. We will examine some of these issues through these caselets, which are written from the personal perspectives of the protagonists. They are real-life stories that many should be able to relate to. Although all the protagonists are women, this does not mean that the lessons are not applicable to men. Men and women work alongside one another at the workplace and men play a critical role in shaping women's workplace experience. Throughout the case discussions, the perspectives of men will be immensely valuable. We recognise that the instructor cannot possibly do justice to these cases in a 90-minutes class. It is also not our goal to solve the larger social and gender issues that are implicated in these cases. Our aim is primarily to help students better appreciate the challenges women face, and collectively think of ways to handle them. -

Congratulations Melissa, the Job Is Yours. But ... (B)
Supplement to case W20642 In part A of the case, Melissa Law was offered a position as a human resources operations manager only a few weeks after completing her final course in a graduate industrial relations program at a prestigious Canadian university. She was ecstatic when Elias Ferenc, the person she would report to, offered her the position. Her enthusiasm, however, was quickly deflated when Elias expressed his reservations about hiring her. He worried that she would rely to heavily on her formal education rather than getting to know her new work environment and the employees that she managed, many of whom had significantly less formal education than she did. Melissa had to make a quick decision about the job offer. How would she respond to Elias? In Part B of the case, after Melissa accepted the position, she was challenged with making changes in a workplace where the staff members were much older, with much lower formal education. How would she relate to employees that would be reporting to her? -
Mary Guerrero and the Advancement of Latinx Talent: Developing an Employee Resource Group at a Top Tier Bank (B)
Mary Guerrero decided to pursue the challenging road and kicked off Hispanic/Latinx Advancement and Career Engagement (HACE) at her Bulge Bracket Bank (BBB). For Mary, her larger purpose was to advance Latinx talent in the U.S. because she believed it was important for leadership at major U.S. firms to mirror the composition of the country. With Latinx representing almost 18.3% of the U.S. population but only holding 3.8% of board seats, she saw a problem that needed to be addressed. She understood what getting a job at a prestigious Bulge Bracket Bank on Wall Street meant for a Latinx. It meant not only learning hard skills like financial modeling but also earning credibility. Mary's life journey from growing up in a low-income neighborhood to earning a coveted spot on Wall Street was difficult and she wanted to make that path easier for others. -
