Reaching Crunch Time: Fight or Fold

內容大綱
Sheree Evans and Danielle McFarland had spent five years trying to build and launch business management software for the health and wellness industry. After an attempt with Mystro, an online payment gateway, they pivoted to create a new business, Therapair, a multi-sided platform. They had enough funds left for just over three months of operations and needed to decide whether they should continue to invest in their businesses or walk away from them.
學習目標
This decision-focused case is designed for use in introductory- and undergraduate-level courses on entrepreneurship. It gives students insight into the challenges of building a tech-enabled product, the importance of customer discovery, and the challenge of walking away from a startup. It encourages students to develop alternative business models, contrast the build-and-launch approach with an approach using customer discovery, create an MVP, evaluate potential courses of action, and consider not just the business implications of decisions but also the personal sacrifices entrepreneurs make to build businesses. It provides the opportunity for students to develop and assess alternative business models. After working through the case and assignment questions, students will be able to do the following:

Understand the role of customer discovery in the startup process.

Develop and evaluate different business models.

Evaluate the potential of a startup and make strategic decisions about its direction.
