This case can be used to tease out entrepreneurship, strategy formulation, and implementation issues and leadership development. This case is suitable for HR management courses, especially inviting a more critically reflexive orientation toward career development and management. Particularly relevant would be a critique of the careerist orientation that often dominates the way executive success is measured. It can also invite a more reflexive learning in redefining the meaning of a career as being a care-er of what truly matters to us for illustrations of this approach to rethinking career. This case is recommended for use in undergraduate and postgraduate management courses. After working through the case and assignment questions, students will be able to do the following:

Understand the concept of human flourishing as a critical priority of the Fifth Industrial Revolution.

Analyze and/or reflect upon the concept of “career as journey” often presented in a linear way, to identify the most impactful moments/choices that can redirect their path and widen the scope of their impact leading to entrepreneurial action that is impactful.

Use knowledge and experience gained over the career journey to develop frameworks and a toolkit to support the path leading to career resilience and responsible leadership (i.e., 6Cs, Principles of Mentorship).

Understand how leaders can leverage career learning and experiences to become care-ers, supporting human flourishing in an organization.

Exercise choice by taking a stance on issues/crises they will be confronted with that invite them to step up and show up as leaders.
