The financial results of Euro Disney and the problems experienced after its start-up are described. It can be used as a follow-up to the Harvard Business School case Euro Disney: The First 100 Days, HBS 693013.
學習目標
To show that transferring business concepts, strategies, and business systems across borders is not necessarily a straight-forward process that should be taken for granted. The case challenges students to think about the development of entry strategies as well as the operations and the management systems to implement and support the strategies; the importance of understanding the cultural dimensions of a firm's business as well as the important cultural aspects (such as customer buying behavior) of the foreign market that is being entered.<br><br>The case can help students in their understanding of when and how to adapt service concepts and delivery systems in another country and culture; the importance of understanding both the hard or explicit elements (park design, financing, construction) and soft or implicit elements (human resource issues, unions, local practices) of a company's operations and the influence of culture in these areas.
